KIVA High School

KIVA High School provides a comprehensive program for special needs students, in grades 9-12, who have not experienced success in a traditional high school setting. Using reality-based, small group instruction, KIVA provides academic requirements for graduation, vocational training for job placement and interpersonal skill development for successful world citizenship. During the 2005-06 school year, KIVA was able to service over seventy-five students who were recommended by more than twenty-five high schools. A "kiva" in the Native American tradition, is a safe, protected community in which knowledge is exchanged in an atmosphere of trust and respect. Based on this philosophy, KIVA students have made a positive difference in both school and in the community through the following activities:
